Yearbook

Project Description:
Several days a week, students working in the Magic Zone program practice their skills in still photography and document their daily lives working in the Fillmore neighborhood. Through a partnership with Citizen Film and funding through the San Francisco Arts Commission Artivist grant, the students created a “yearbook” to celebrate the many events, creative work, and communit collaboration that have made up this past school year.
Inspiration for the book’s retro graphic design comes from conversations about the history of the Buchanan Mall and exploration of its archival materials.
Yearbook was bound and distributed amongst community members at Ella Hill Hutch Community Center and also on display at the San Francisco Public Library, Main Branch.
